REPRINT LETTER TO EDITOR The News Tribune July 16

There are so many reasons why Thomas Bjorgen will make an outstanding judge on the State Court of Appeals. His legal career spans 33 years and includes service as Assistant Attorney General for the State, Counsel in the State Legislature, Senior Deputy Prosecuting Attorney for Thurston County, and, at present, Hearings Examiner for Olympia, Dupont, and Thurston County.

I urge voters to visit his website bjorgenforjudge.com to view his extensive and varied resume because it shows him to be uniquely prepared to judge the complex issues that come before the appellate court. Also, note the many comments from those who have worked with Thomas who have offered their full-hearted endorsements.

Thomas’ leadership in our community is evidenced in the range of his public service, including volunteering in the Bread and Roses kitchen, helping to found the Volunteer Legal Clinic, and serving on the Board of the Nisqually Land Trust.

But in my view, what best qualifies Thomas to be a judge is his moral courage. He is dedicated to the concept that all are equal under the law, and all are entitled to fairness under the law. In this way, Thomas reminds me very much of Atticus Finch, the brave and principled lawyer from To Kill a Mockingbird.” I see in Thomas the same strength of character, humility and passion for justice.

…for all these reasons, join me in selecting Thomas Bjorgen for the State Court of Appeals.
